Thief Targets Air Conditioner Units

Law enforcement officials received more than one report last week of air conditioners being stolen from residences.

On Friday a resident of 379 Bluff Road, St. Joseph, reported an air conditioner had been stolen from a house trailer he was working to restore. He indicated that he had left the residence, returning to find that the air conditioning unit was missing.

The Haleston air conditioning unit had been stolen, along with an outdoor breaker box, electrical wiring, and an indoor breaker box.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department dispatched to investigate report the rear door to the home had been pried open. Loss was approximately $4,370.

A resident of Rigling Road, Loretto, told deputies that while she was away from home, someone burglarized it. The woman indicated she had been away from home, staying with a friend for approximately one week. She returned to find that the air conditioning unit had been stole from the window, along with an air compressor, pressure washer, gas grill, tent, and halogen lights. Total loss was estimated at $785.
